From my point of view, pedagogy, indeed is the art and science of teaching. however, i think there are hidden notions or ideas to be elaborated.

As pedagogy is teaching, therefore, it relates to the function or work of a teacher/educator. Further, it encompasses the whole sphere of education.

So, prior to educating/teaching, teachers/educators need to go through preparatory training and instructions. This is a part of pedagogy.

When teaching, the concepts, strategies, ideas, means and etc adopted to convey messages and lessons are of pedagogy as well. Further, the art and science of using these concepts, notions, strategies, means and etc correctly, effectively and efficiently is also of pedagogy, in order to create a learning environment for students to have fruitful learning lessons.

perhaps this can be an example of the notion of pedagogy:

Let me quote from a webpage, pls refer to for more info:

Pedagogy contents

Pedagogy is the study of the Learning Methods and application of Educational and Training theories to create learning and training contexts and environments. The application of some learning theories to e-learning is especially highlighted in this portal Area to present the differences between face to face learning and distance learning environments.
